Committed to the music of our time, Ganesh has premiered numerous newly commissioned symphonic works under the direction of Peter Askim with the Raleigh Civic Symphony Orchestra and Raleigh Civic Chamber Orchestra, by composers Lisa Bielawa, Anuj Bhutani, Milad Yousufi, Allison Loggins-Hull, Trevor New, Tift Merrit, and Christopher Cerrone.
As the first Kenan Fellow in music at Lincoln Center Institute for the Arts in Education, Ganesh has led music-based workshops in LCI's philosophy of Aesthetic Education in New York and New Jersey public schools, and he also performed as a recitalist at LCI.
In New York, Ganesh was a faculty member of the Bloomingdale School of Music and was a performing arts Fellow at the 92nd Street Y. Ganesh also performed with the Chamber Orchestra of St. Luke's, Early Music New York, and the Boston Philharmonic in Carnegie Hall under the direction of John Rutter.
As a graduate assistant to Ray Mase at the UNC School of the Arts, Ganesh earned the Masters of Music degree, and the Bachelors of Music degree from the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, where he studied with Boyde Hood and Roy Poper. Ganesh completed additional studies with Vincent Penzarella and Herb Smith and he has performed in master classes with Hakan Hardenberger and John Wallace.
Ganesh has nearly 20 years of experience as both a yoga practitioner and teacher. Upon returning to practicing and performing on the trumpet during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ganesh applied the practices of mindfulness and intention, in addition to numerous breathing and meditation techniques, to his musical training. The result gave him a fresh perspective on walking an artistic path and how we can manifest increased success and understanding of our instrument while cultivating a healthy relationship with our chosen art form.
Ganesh serves as a board member of the AFM Local 500 musician's union and can be heard sharing some of his recent experiences with music and mindfulness on the podcast: Skills and Bones: the Search for Trombone Treasures, with host Matthew Driscoll.
